Linux Server Administration

Linux servers are fast, reliable, and have zero licensing costs. Frankly, we love running them and our clients reap the benefits.

Linux servers are Open Source and don't have any licensing fee because their General Public License (GPL). The Open Source community keeps upgrades and improvements consistenly coming without any additional cost.

Whether we're building an Apache web-server, a Postfix-based mail server, a Samba-powered file server and domain controller, a database server running MySQL or Oracle, or a Flash Media Server, Gamma Code can wield the power and flexibility of Linux to provide our clients with lean and effective solutions for their business.

Windows Server Administration

But we're not just hardcore Linux zealots, here at Gamma Code use Windows servers daily. In fact we really enjoy a proper network of Windows servers. Often times, they provide just the right environment for our clients.

At Gamma Code, we make a habit out of using Windows technology our way. We do this by utilizing the built-in features of Windows to limit the need for you to buy additional software packages. For example, we often forego the cost and hassle of 3rd party backup software and tape backup systems by leveraging Microsoft's own Distributed File System (DFS) and Volume Shadow Copy (VSC) for off-site backups and easy restoration of time-based snapshots of your files.

We're also experienced administrators of all versions of Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Windows Server Update Services, Terminal Services, IIS, Sharepoint, and various third-party applications like GFI MailEssentials and BlackBerry Enterprise Service.

Virtualization

Virtualization rocks. Whereas in the past, a company would need a physical server for each individual operating system (e.g. Windows Server or Linux), virtualization allows you to run multiple operating systems (virtual machines) on a single server. This saves your capital hardware budget, decreases energy costs, and provides significant harware disaster recovery options.

To boot, the virtualization platform we use, VMWare, is free for all the basic components, including the ESXi hypervisor, vSphere management application, and the vCenter Converter.
